Veteran Educational Benefits
Eligible Veterans/Reservists planning on using their educational benefits at Youngstown State University should
read the following information pertaining to receiving and maintaining benefits. Links to all applicable forms
and to VA resources are also listed. Students with additional financial aid questions may contact YSU's

| Additional Requirements: Each month the VA requires students receiving Chapter 30 or 1606 benefits to verify their enrollment and program of study. Students may verify enrollment by phone at 1-877-823-2378 or online at www.gibill.va.gov using the WAVE portion of the website. |
Once the VA processes the 22-1990, a Certificate of Eligibility will be sent to the student. The student must then provide a copy of the Certificate to YSU. YSU cannot certify enrollment until a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility is received. |

| Continuing Students: Students who have previously received benefits will be certified upon registration for classes. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships receives a weekly registration report that is generated to track all registration activity by VA students. |

| Change in Schools: A student who has received Veteran benefits at another school and now plans on enrolling at YSU must complete and submit a VA 22-1995 form. This is the only form required to begin receiving VA benefits at YSU. VA 22-1995 online | printable * |

* Paper forms must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Students who submit forms online should notify our office. Upon notification we will process the certification.
Additional Programs: Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation) - Veterans may be eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation if they have a service-connected disability or disabilities rated by the VA at 10 percent or greater. Chapter 1607 (REAP) - Members of a reserve component who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001 for a contingency operation and who served at least 90 consecutive days are eligible for chapter 1607.
