Dr. Leonard B. Spiegel Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of Dr. Leonard B. Spiegel by his three children. Leonard came to Youngstown in 1961 to begin his university teaching career at Youngstown State University. For the next 35 years, Leonard had a distinguished career as a professor of Biochemistry. Leonard loved working at YSU and was an avid supporter of YSU athletics and theater. He was also very involved in the Youngstown community, especially the Jewish community. This scholarship is for a student majoring in Chemistry or a chemistry related field, attending YSU full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student with a 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to a student who is minoring in Judaic Studies.
