Amy Schiavone-Sposato Memorial Scholarship in Education


Established in 2025, this scholarship honors the life and legacy of a dedicated educator, Amy Sposato. A proud graduate of East High School in Youngstown, Amy pursued her passion for teaching with an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of her students. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown State University and went on to complete a master’s degree in education from Westminster College, as well as further graduate coursework at YSU. Amy spent 42 years teaching in the Youngstown City Schools, beginning her career at Harding Elementary School and concluding at Sheridan Elementary School. Her remarkable dedication to the profession earned her multiple accolades, including the prestigious Martha Jennings Holder Scholarship Award, a nomination for Teacher of the Year, and a certificate for Exemplary Achievement in the Best Tradition of Educational Excellence signed by President Barack Obama. Through this scholarship, her legacy will live on in the classroom, empowering future educators to follow in her footsteps. This scholarship is for undergraduate students only, enrolled in a teacher education program with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Student(s) must be a resident of Mahoning, Columbiana, Trumbull, Mercer (PA), or Lawrence County (PA).
