Franklin and Nancy Bennett Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2020 through a gift from Scott R. Schulick, former Chairman of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees, in honor of Franklin and Nancy Bennett. Atty. Franklin S. Bennett, Jr. served as Secretary to the Board of Trustees from 1990-2020, succeeding his father Atty. Franklin S. Bennett, who served in the same capacity from 1983-1989. Mr. Schulick considered Atty. Bennett as his mentor throughout his career in business and civic affairs. Atty. Bennett is a graduate of Poland Seminary High School, Cornell University and Case Western Reserve University College of Law. Nancy Foster Bennett is a native of tidewater Virginia. She is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC where she received her bachelor’s degree in education, and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where she received her master’s degree in education. She taught both pre-kindergarten and elementary school. This scholarship is for a full-time undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA, preference to a student majoring in American History, American Government or Pre-law, preference to a graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
