Edward J. Kucala Endowed Scholarship


This endowed scholarship was established in 2023 by the Edward J. Kucala Charitable Foundation. Edward was born in Youngstown, the son of John Kucala and Ann Yevcick. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and then attended Youngstown University, now Youngstown State University. Edward graduated in 1960 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work as a computer scientist with RCA and Rayetheon. This scholarship was established to honor Edward and his legacy. To receive this scholarship, students must be enrolled in the College of STEM as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Students must also be graduates of a high school located in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer (PA), or Lawrence (PA) County. Preference will be given to students enrolled in an engineering program, including engineering technology.
