Altronic Innovation-Martina Hörbiger Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2024 by Altronic, LLC, a member of the HOERBIGER Group. Altronic got its start in Youngstown in 1953 as the Economy Engine Company and quickly began work on the world’s first capacitive discharge ignition system. Growth of the company continued, and the company moved to its current location on Trumbull Avenue in Girard in 1969. Altronic was purchased by HOERBIGER Holding AG in 2009 and is the largest entity of the HOERBIGER Engine Division.
HOERBIGER was founded in 1895 with the invention of the steel plate valve. At the close of World War II, Martina Hörbiger took the reins of the company and resumed international relations around the world, ultimately growing HOERBIGER to the multi-national diverse group of companies it is today. Today, Altronic is the leader in state-of-the-art digital ignition systems, engine control systems and instruments to monitor critical processes on industrial spark-ignited engines & reciprocating compressors. This scholarship is for an undergraduate student majoring in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology; with a minimum 2.7 GPA.
