Audrey Patterson Ivy Scholarship for Nursing
This scholarship was established in 2024 by William Ivy to honor his mother, Audrey Patterson Ivy. Pat graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and entered Youngstown State University’s Registered Nurse program, graduating in 1949. She was a nurse from the days of starched white caps to today’s modern scrubs. In 1952, she married and moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Pat began a lifelong career in the Huntsville Hospital system. She was always a head nurse in charge of a floor until moving into an administrative position at the end of her career. Pat’s longest tenure was on the oncology ward. Her experiences led to the creation of the first Hospice services offered in the city. Audrey Patterson Ivy was a caregiver, both professionally and personally, until the end of her life in 2022. This scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student(s) enrolled in the entry-level BSN nursing program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students can be enrolled full- or part-time. First preference given to a graduate of a Youngstown (OH) city high school. Second preference given to a graduate of a high school within Mahoning County (OH).
