Johnston-Moore Women’s Engineering Scholarship


This scholarship was established in 2016 by David J. and Laurie J. Moore. Both are Youngstown State University graduates. David earned a B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering in 1975 and a M.S.E. in Chemical Engineering in 1978. Laurie earned a B.E. in Chemical Engineering in 1977 and a Master of Engineering in 1984 from the University of Pittsburgh. Laurie was the first female Engineer of the Year in 1977. They created this scholarship endowment to aid women in the study and completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering. This scholarship is for a female undergraduate or graduate student majoring in engineering enrolled in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to a student majoring in chemical engineering. A completed FAFSA is required, need is a consideration.
