District Three Nurses - Mary Ellen Patton Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2023 by District Three Nurses Association, which serves Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. The association desires to honor a Youngstown nurse, Mary Ellen Patton, RN, who was a nurse leader locally, in Ohio and nationally. She was an advocate for safe, effective, quality patient care by championing for staff nurses and their roles in determining their own economic and general welfare within the healthcare work environment.
The District Three Nurses Association hopes the recipients of the District Three Nurses - Mary Ellen Patton, RN scholarship will continue Mrs. Patton’s legacy by being a strong advocate for nurses and the profession. Recipients for this scholarship must be enrolled in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Be a resident of Mahoning, Trumbull, or Columbiana counties, attending full or part time with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to a student who was a member of District Three Nurses Association or a family descendant. Student(s) must highlight their leadership activities, community service involvement and future career plans in the field of nursing on the online application.
