J. Neil “Hap” Kazan Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2020 by the J. Neil Kazan Family. Neil attended YSU from 1964-1968 and served as the President of Theta Chi Fraternity and the YSU Interfraternity Council (IFC) while there. Neil graduated with a degree in Business and a major in Retail Merchandising. His experiences at YSU and specifically with Greek life and the resulting friendships he experienced, have lived with him throughout his college years, business career and for his entire life.

Though he made many friends and acquaintances during all those years, his fraternity brothers and YSU friendships endured and have been his closest and dearest throughout his life. Equally important is that the acquired leadership and relationship development skills were the key factors in his learning how to navigate a business career as well as a happy and successful personal life. No matter how successful you may be, at the end of it all, it is the relationships you made along the way that matter most. This scholarship first preference is to the President of Theta Chi Fraternity. Second preference is to the President of the Interfraternity Council at YSU. Third Preference is for a student who may have a physical disability in traversing campus.
