Rosemary and David Yerian Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2022 by Rosemary and David Yerian. Rosemary graduated from YSU with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1972, after finishing college in only three years, all while working in the evenings. Immediately after graduation, she was hired by the Youngstown Board of Education and went on to teach in Youngstown for thirty years. Rosemary’s husband, David, was a 1968 graduate of Miami University with a degree in Finance. He was a computer programmer for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and met Rosemary there one late evening in 1972 while she was working during college. David joined his family’s business, Moreman-Yerian Insurance later that year. He and his brother bought the agency in 1974 and grew the company, specializing in Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance. They sold the business to a publicly traded bank holding company in 2000. David stayed with the agency until 2011 when he retired. Rosemary and David hope you will treasure your experience while at YSU, and come to value the education you receive as much as their family has. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing an undergraduate degree, majoring in any teacher education program with a minimum of a 2.75 GPA. Student must have graduated from any Mahoning, Trumbull, or Columbiana County high school. Preference will be given to a student pursuing their Primary Intervention Specialist License for grades P-5.
