Carol Lemmon Olson Scholarship in Nursing


This scholarship was established in 2021 by Carol Olson. Carol spent a 36-year career as a nurse, working predominantly at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. She rose to the role of Director of Critical Care and acting Vice President of Nursing. After growing up in Boardman, she graduated from Youngstown State University, earning both a Bachelor's (1976) and Master's (1989) degree. Carol and her husband Dan have lived most of their lives in Trumbull County. She received a scholarship from the Women's Board of the Youngstown Hospital Association, which provided her the means to become a nurse. As a way to pay it forward, Carol wants to help support future nurses from the Mahoning Valley by establishing scholarships at both Kent State University and Youngstown State University. To be eligible for this scholarship, student must be an undergraduate student that has achieved at least sophomore rank, who is pursuing any Nursing Program (including the RN to BSN program) at YSU. Must be attending full-time with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, and be a resident of Mahoning or Trumbull County.
