Samuel Turk Jr. and Judith (Johnson) Turk Scholarship in Criminal Justice


This scholarship was established in 2022 by the Turk family. Sam and Judi Turk were both raised in the Youngstown area. They met on the YSU campus and were married for 42 years until Sam passed away in 2017. Sam served in the U.S. Army and graduated in 1971. He was a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for 31 years. Sam and Judi raised their family in St. Louis, but always kept a special affinity for the Youngstown State Penguins. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree, majoring in Criminal Justice with a completed FAFSA. Preference will be given to students from Mahoning or Lawrence counties.
