Dr. Abdul Bari Lateef Scholarship in Forensic Science
This scholarship was established in 2019 by Dr. Abdul Bari Lateef, to benefit students studying Forensic Science. Dr. Lateef received his undergraduate education at Punjab University in Pakistan, and his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. He joined YSU's Criminal Justice faculty in 1971, and was promoted to professor in 1981 and department chair in 1989, before retiring in 1996. After retirement, Dr. Lateef joined Tri State Laboratories full time and acquired ownership of the business in 1999. He has been recognized as a judicial expert on forensic evidence and accepted as a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. He has published and presented several papers at professional conferences and is an Emeritus Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be undergraduate juniors or seniors, attending full-time, and majoring in Forensic Science with at least a 3.0 GPA.
