John and Midge Lisko Memorial Scholarship in Social Work

This scholarship was established in 2021 by Patricia and Wayne Beckett, in memory of Patricia’s parents, John and Midge Lisko. Patricia earned her B.A. in sociology from YSU and went on to the University of Pittsburgh, where she met Wayne and they both earned their Masters degrees in Social Work. Patricia and Wayne are both now retired after long careers in medical social work and children’s mental health. Her parents, John and Midge, were both lifelong residents of the Youngstown area. They valued education and made many sacrifices to ensure that their three children were able to achieve a college education. In order to qualify for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the Master of Social Work Program. Preference will be given to a student maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA.
