Dr. Betty Jo Licata Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2021, in honor of Dr. Betty Jo Licata and her 26 years of service at YSU, as the Dean of Williamson College of Business Administration. After earning her PhD in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Licata became a faculty member, and later, the associate Dean and Director of Graduate Programs at Ohio University. She also served as Dean of the Dahlkemper School of Business Administration at Gannon University before joining YSU in 1995. As Dean of WCBA, Dr. Licata led the effort to gain accreditation by AACSB International, in addition to spearheading the planning and construction of the new Williamson Hall which is a state-of-the-art facility. During Dr. Licata's tenure, several essential programs were established within the college; these include the Center for Nonprofit Leadership, the Center for Career Management, and the Business Leaders Program, just to name a few. The college also expanded its award-winning Ohio Small Business Development Center, Global Experiences Program, and the Williamson Center for International Business, under her leadership. An eligible student for this scholarship is seeking a BSBA degree in the Williamson College of business. Applicants must be actively involved in leadership and/or professional development activities, and have at least a 3.0 GPA.
