John C. Landers Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, and Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established by John C. Landers to support students in Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, and Nursing at YSU. John created this scholarship to help assist students who will have a valuable impact on people in need. After earning his Bachelor of Engineering at YSU in 1969, John earned a master's degree from George Washington University. He retired from NASA, where he worked in Exploration and Aeronautics, developing space and aeronautical technologies and operating experiments aboard the Space Shuttle and Russian Space Station. While with NASA he also served in the Senior Planning Team for the return to the Moon and Mars programs. John received the NASA Exceptional Service Medal. This scholarship is open to undergraduate or graduate level students enrolled in Nursing, Physical Therapy or Exercise Science with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants residing in Mahoning or Trumbull County. At least one scholarship will be given to a student majoring in Physical Therapy or Exercise.
