John Barkett Memorial Scholarship
The John Barkett Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 by his wife Georgia and son Brent. John earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Youngstown State University in 1973, where he was a brother of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. John loved being a part of the university. After graduation and throughout his life, John continued to be a proud ambassador of YSU and found ways to build bridges for the community back to the school. This scholarship embodies the "Bridge Builder" mindset, and the deserving student should welcome being an ambassador using servant leader principles to connect the community to the university. Therefore, this scholarship is open to any undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in any program or major with a completed FAFSA. Financial need is a priority.
