Sister Jerome Corcoran Memorial Scholarship


This scholarship was established in 2021 by friends of Sister Jerome Corcoran in her memory upon her death at age 105. Sister Jerome was a leader in education and a champion for the poor in the Mahoning Valley. She taught elementary school, high school, and many courses at Youngstown State University. Sister Jerome served as supervisor of education for the Diocese of Youngstown and founded both the Millcreek Children's Center and the Youngstown Community School. This scholarship was created to honor Sister Jerome's passion for education and helping those in need. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship is an undergraduate student attending full-time with a 3.0 GPA and a completed FAFSA that demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to a graduate of a public or parochial high school in the city of Youngstown, Ohio.
