Dr. Chatrchai and Eleanor Watanakunakorn Scholarship


Dr. Chatrchai Watanakunakorn was a Professor of Medicine at NEOUCOM and the first infectious disease specialist in Youngstown. He published more than 290 medical journal articles and book chapters, delivered lectures to medical professionals worldwide and was the recipient of numerous awards. Education was important to both Chatrchai and Eleanor, so following Chatrchai's death in 2001; Eleanor endowed several scholarships/awards at different places. Student(s) must be attending full-time in the YSU BaccMed program and accepted into the NEOMED program. Priority will be given to a student from Columbiana, Mahoning or Trumbull counties (in Ohio). First preference to students from a historically underrepresented population, as defined in the American Association of Medical Colleges. Student(s) must have a minimum 3.4 overall GPA and BCPM GPA (grade point average in all Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math courses. FAFSA must be completed. Selection will be based on need and highest scores, and grades achieved.
