Michael and Suellen Weir Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2020 by Michael and Suellen Weir to provide scholarships for deserving students at their alma mater. Michael earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971 and his master's degree in Business Administration in 1977. Suellen earned her bachelor's degree in Education in 1973. It is the intention of this scholarship, to be awarded in amounts to cover 50% of a student's tuition. Mike and Suellen met at YSU where Suellen was Homecoming Queen in 1970. After graduation, Mike went on to work for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Babcock and Wilcox, and Ingersoll - Rand. He started his own company, Total Equipment Company, in 1982. It is a supplier of pumps and air compressors for Pennsylvania and West Virginia and provided sales and service for the same. Mike and Suellen both believe in the importance of a good education as a basis for future opportunities. An eligible student for this scholarship must be attending YSU full-time as an undergraduate student only, majoring in Engineering or the sciences, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. A completed FAFSA is required.
