Helen M. (Dutko) Zeisloft Memorial Scholarship

The Helen M. (Dutko) Zeisloft Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 by Helen's husband, Bob. Helen passed away on November 11, 2019 from ALS. Helen was born and raised in Youngstown. She was a 1975 graduate of Youngstown State University with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering. Upon graduation, she became the first woman professional to work at Weirton Steel in Weirton, West Virginia. She moved out west in 1983 and received her master's degree in Engineering Management through Washington State University in 1989. The last thirty years of her life were spent in the Carson City, Nevada area, where she held a number of technical management positions, including engineering program manager, production unit manager, manufacturing manager and plant manager. Helen continued to break ground for women engineers, silencing skeptics in management positions during her professional career. Her experiences made her a strong supporter of human equality regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or race. She always felt that her engineering degree from Youngstown State contributed greatly to her successful career. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship must be enrolled full-time in the College of STEM, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a completed FAFSA. Financial need will be considered.
