Dr. Donald J. Milley Memorial Scholarship
Donald J. Milley was born in Buffalo, New York in 1943. He earned his Economics undergraduate degree and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After marrying in 1974, Donald and his wife, Christine, made their home in Boardman, Ohio. In 1969 he began teaching Economics at Youngstown State University and continued to do so for the next 42 years before retiring in 2010. He was described by students as “a great teacher” (“the best teacher I ever had”). Donald had a teaching style that brought theoretical economic concepts down to earth. He often related them to his favorite hobbies of golf and exotic cars. This scholarship is established in memory of Dr. Milley for his dedication to the university, to all his students and to the discipline he truly loved. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship must be a Graduate student enrolled in Economics attending full or part time. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (undergrad) or graduate GPA or meeting program requirements. It will be available to students not receiving a graduate assistantship.
