Joseph Pavlov, Jr. Minority Scholarship


This scholarship was established by the family of Joseph Pavlov, Jr. Joseph was born on February 1st, 1925 in Struthers, Ohio. Joe was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Intrepid. Upon returning from service, Joe worked as an auto body manager at Donell Ford until he acquired his own business, Buckeye Body and Paint Supply. Joe worked until the age of 87. For many years, Joe would honor his fellow veterans by playing taps at their funerals. He played over 8,500 services. His kindness and generosity have touched a multitude of people. An eligible student for this scholarship must be African-American and enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate level program. This student must be from Mahoning county with a 2.5 GPA minimum. Preference to a first-generation college student.
