Ilas Family Scholarship in Engineering


This scholarship was established in 2020 by William Joseph Ilas. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University on June 12, 1969. William furthered his education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina; where he received his Master of Science degree with a major of electrical engineering and a minor in computer science. Two of William's three older brothers also received degrees from Youngstown College. John Thomas Ilas earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in electrical engineering in 1962. Richard Robert Ilas earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting, in 1963. This scholarship was established to honor William's parents, John Andrew and Catherine Elizabeth. An eligible student for this scholarship must be majoring in electrical engineering, with a minimum 2.8 GPA and attending YSU full-time. This student must be a U.S. citizen with a preference given to Mahoning county residents. Completed FAFSA must be completed, student must demonstrate need.
