George Carl "Barney" Rumberg, Jr. Scholarship
George Carl "Barney" Rumberg, Jr. was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He was a graduate of The Rayen School, and went on to study at Denison University, but finished his undergraduate studies at YSU and graduated in 1960 with a degree in chemistry. While in school he worked in the family business, The Mahoning Paint Corporation, founded in 1911, and developed industrial paints and coatings. As a polymer chemist, he became one of the foremost researchers in low VOC water based and ultraviolet coatings for steel pipe. A member of the Youngstown Rotary, Mahoning Valley Chamber of Commerce, he was an avid angler and golfer. This scholarship is provided by his son, Charles C. Rumberg. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship must be majoring in Chemistry, attending full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
