Gary Rich Scholarship for STEM Education

This endowment was established in 2018 by Joseph Rich to honor his father, Gary Rich. A lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, Gary earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Technical Institute in 1965. Following his service in the United States Army, he enjoyed a 40+ year career in engineering, working for General Motors, The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, The Hoover Company, and Babcock and Wilcox among others. He ingrained the importance of a technical education into his son, Joseph, stressing that a strong manufacturing base is essential to a region's economic fortunes. Both father and son believe that Youngstown State University is key to our region's economic future and is educating the next generation of STEM leaders. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship must be enrolled in the College of STEM full-time, with minimum 2.5 GPA, who have attained at least sophomore status. Student(s) must also be a U.S. citizen and resident of Ohio or Pennsylvania.
