Howard and Jeanne Karr Memorial Scholarship

This endowment was established in 2018 by the Howard and Jeanne Karr Charitable Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Karr were long-time residents of Youngstown, Ohio. Howard Karr was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania and received his metallurgical degree from Penn State University after which he moved to Youngstown and worked as a metallurgist at the Ohio Works of U.S. Steel Corporation for more than 30 years. Jeanne was actively involved in her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, and in assisting students at her alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan University. Jeanne worked for many years at the Union National Back (now Chase) and was active in the Youngstown Panhellenic Association as well as being a charter member of Fortnightly III. Both Jeanne and Howard were strong proponents of helping students and the creation of this scholarship will enable students at YSU to continue to advance their educations.
