John Peter Julian Memorial Scholarship


This endowment was established to honor John Peter Julian by his family in 2017. Mr. Julian earned his mechanical engineering degree in 1957 from Youngstown State University. Prior to earning his degree, he served his country from 1948 through 1952 in the Air Force as an aerial photographer and topographical mapper. His engineering career spanned over 30 years working for FMC (Food Machinery Corp) in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. He was head of the Concept Engineering Department, leading projects including the Bradly tank. He was an avid tennis player into his 80's, had a witty sense of humor and was always eager to help friends and family, which included his three children. He deeply valued education, and was the first in his family to ever attend college. An eligible student(s) for this scholarship must be enrolled full-time in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, majoring in mechanical engineering. You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a sophomore in class standing during the application process. You must be a U.S. citizen and complete the FAFSA.
