Marjorie Hartman Foundation Scholarship

The Marjorie Hartman Family Foundation established this scholarship in 2018. Marjorie Hartman was born on July 4, 1922, one of three daughters born to James and Margaret Hill. She married Ensign Willis Hartman in July of 1948. After being widowed in 1963, Marge worked as an EKG Technician for Trumbull Memorial Hospital and later became a self-employed dog groomer. Years later, her clients would recognize her and tell her how much they appreciated the way she treated their pet, for Marge had a special bond with animals. Marge was closely associated with the well-known area veterinarian, Dr. Sam Segall, caring for abandoned animals who needed veterinary care or grooming. Ms. Hartman created her charitable foundation shortly before her death in 2008 to help fund and promote animal welfare. This scholarship endowment was created to foster the perpetual development of qualified veterinarians in the Mahoning Valley.
