Pennsylvania Programs
The following types of aid are available to eligible Pennsylvania residents.  The state of Pennsylvania receives the results from a student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from the Department of Education.  The state then determines eligibility for PA grants and forwards this information to Youngstown State University.

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Awards (PHEAA)

This program provides grants to Pennsylvania residents who are YSU students.  Students may be full-time or half-time undergraduates enrolled in an approved program of study requiring at least two years to complete.  The PHEAA award is limited to students who have not attained a first bachelor's degree.  A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to become eligible for a PHEAA grant.

YSU/PHEAA Supplemental Grant

Recognizing the legislative cap on Pennsylvania grants to Pennsylvania residents attending Ohio universities, Youngstown State University has increased the funding for the supplemental grant program that was initiated and funded by the YSU Foundation.  This grant will automatically be awarded to YSU students who are awarded a PHEAA grant.  The supplemental grant will be awarded in amounts up to $1,200 per year to all students who receive the PHEAA grant, subject to availability of funds.

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Awards

This program, funded by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) in Pennsylvania, provides grants for tuition, fees, and books for residents with disabilities.  Eligibility is determined by the state.
